ELECTRIC Guitar - HARMOS GUITARS

Thank you for finding your way to the Harmos Electric Guitar
information. Below is some information about the background of the
Harmos Electric Guitar and a few basic photos. We will be releasing
more detailed information at the end of July 2005.

Like Fender®, Gretsch® and Rickenbacker® before it, Harmos transfers innovative guitar knowledge from lap steels into electric guitars.

Like vintage electric guitar makers Fender®, Gretsch® and Rickenbacker®, who initially made lap steels and then went on to build other guitars, the new Harmos electric guitar benefits from the company’s experience building lap steel guitars at their facility in Minnesota. Like its Harmos predecessors, the Harmos electric promises to deliver an extraordinary organic sound, startling look and ease of play for a wide spectrum of players. Like the steel, it also uses Harmos’ patented space-frame design to deliver the incredible Harmos tone. This sound has huge overtone support with clean bottom-end response.

The new Harmos electric is light – less than 4 pounds, strong, and uses a head-less tuner design with embedded carbon fiber neck rods to maintain the low neck weight and high strength that Harmos has learned is required to carry body overtones throughout the instrument. It feels like a Telecaster, with a flat back, and is well-balanced for play either sitting down or standing up. The electric guitar is available with different pickup options.

The basis of the Harmos sound and the look come from the patented space-frame design. This design balances carbon fiber rods with wood in a tetrahedral-octet structure, which provides superior instrument strength with a minimum of mass. This balanced combination of tone materials and design structure provides the unique body resonance and overtones of the Harmos guitar body. This provides strong fundamental pitch support while uniquely enhancing the harmonics for a tone and responsiveness never before available in a stringed instrument's playing range.

Several prototypes of the Harmos electric guitar have been completed. The current photos are of Prototype “C”. Harmos is currently building low serial number instruments. The instrument is priced at $1,400 to $1,800 depending on configuration. For more model photos, information and technical background please check back at the end of July 2005 for our expanded website

In the mean time, for more information or to order a low serial number guitar, email us at design@harmosmusic.com or contact James Baecker at (612) 382-5393.
